Artificial Intelligence - A curate's egg?

A technology that can makes us question its existence.

Artificial Intelligence - A curate's egg?

Artificial Intelligence is the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by humans.

- John McCarthy

The quote above is the best way to gather words to describe what exactly is Artificial Intelligence. How a non-biological entity is showcasing its power to the entire humankind.

AI has no doubt been amplifying human creativity but we can consider it to be more of a yin-yang situation, where it's opening doors to creativity but also playing with our minds.

Here's how it's happening:

This rapidly growing discipline has been creating havoc on social media through the creation of non-existent situations with the help of AI-generated Images and Music.

One such example is Deep Fakes created by humans. Here's a tweet by Miles Zimmerman who created these images with the help of an innovative text prompt which led to the formation of these imaginary house parties.

At first glance, anybody would believe these images to be real. However, the hands of the people in the image are oddly formed. In a BuzzFeed interview with a professor of AI, "hand" is the least individually shown feature of the body it is usually associated somehow or the other with holding hands or some object hence not getting a clear image that is based on the majority of datasets.

There were also cases where Deep Fakes claimed to show American former president Donald Trump's fake arrests.

Such cases often create a huge space of doubt in the brain regarding the authenticity of the origin also raising the question- how to believe everything we see?

In addition to creating chaos, AI also is very close to posing a threat to professional artists. There are these particular ways of generating images based on an artist's pattern or style. There lies a vexed question on the acknowledgment of these artists, where none of them have been asked for permission nor been compensated.

Apart from this let's talk about AI's Yang side, and how it has also been helping on the other hand. One majority of the contributors worth mentioning is OpenAI, how its features have helped us complete our tasks much effortless way.

Hearing the word "ChatGPT" and using it to summarize books, debug code or write one is what allured me into generative AI in the first place, and how crazy it felt when it reduced my workload.

Through some information gathering, I found these cool ways people are using ChatGPT to make money or to reduce their workload.

Now, this is just a glance of a teeny tiny bit of AI contribution to the world. There are also areas like Space, Agriculture, Human Resources, Health care etc. where AI has shown its good impact on our lives.

These above-mentioned circumstances are such which make one catechize the AI's impact on one's life. How it can snatch jobs from people, fiddle with their minds and also the contrary alleviate everyday chores and open doors to new possibilities as well. Also, not to forget both of these sides are been controlled and managed by humans themselves.
